Oracle Tips for beginners.

To view your database name run the following query.

SQL> conn
Enter user-name: sys as sysdba
Enter password: ******
Connected.
SQL> select name from v$database;

NAME
---------
XMANDB

SQL>

To check whether your database is open in read write mode

SQL> select open_mode from v$database;

OPEN_MODE
----------
READ WRITE

SQL>

To check whether your database is in archivelog

SQL> select log_mode from v$database;

LOG_MODE
------------
ARCHIVELOG

SQL>
